The humble clothes rail is the saviour of the temporary storage solution (often becoming an accidentally permanent fixture). Renting or the need for multi-use rooms, means there’s even more of a need for squeezing storage in the tightest of spaces. The ‘open wardrobe’ is a stylish upgrade on this practical piece, spawning many ingenious examples of DIY rails made from scaffolding poles and copper piping solutions (all over Pinterest).
At B&Q’s press show last year they installed the open wardrobes (below) with copper piping and wood shelving, (I have safely stored the images for when I eventually get round to having a go myself!)
