I don’t want a lot for Christmas but sometimes I wish I was Scandinavian and then my home would look like this…

Pared-back and sophisticated with a touch of luxe. This beautiful photography is from House Doctor who have done it again with their pretty Moments collection. Flicking through their catalogue wistfully, I love the mix of pale wood, copper, marble and cool greys. This Christmas scheme is casual but that is what Scandi’s do so well – effortless chic. To see more, visit their online catalogue, here or check Bodie and Fou who stock the largest selection of House Doctor product in the UK.

    Christmas table decorations

    Christmas table favour

These pretty paper stars would make a cute alternative to a Christmas cracker. They can be filled with sweets or other treats and will double-up as place-setting name markers. They’re super easy to make, too. All you need to do is fold a piece of kraft paper in half and draw a star shape in pencil. Using a chalk pen or white marker, draw spots or stripes within the star shape. Cut it out, then sew around the shape 5mm inside the edge, leaving a 4cm-wide gap. Push treats inside the star, then sew the gap closed. For more ideas, check out our Christmas craft vids here.

Want to avoid the pain of queuing up in WH Smith to buy the same giftwrap as everyone else? Try these quick, easy and super-cheap handmade ideas. First up, personalised gift tags. Search for photos of friends and family, scroll through your phone or pick one from their Facebook page. Print off using black and white ink on reasonably thick white paper and trim to size. Use a hole punch to stamp a hole in it and attach to your gift with baker’s twine or ribbon.

This is a great birthday wrap idea but will also work well for Christmas, a wedding or any occasion where the date is significant. All you need is an office date stamp (try The Post Office Shop), ink pad, plain white giftwrap, a ruler and pencil. Lay out the paper flat, draw a faint grid using the ruler and pencil. Select the date on the stamp, press into the ink pad and stamp the paper following the grid. Leave to dry then erase the pencil lines.  Your gifts will look the best under the tree. Happy wrapping!
