Ever since I was a wee sprog, I have had a bit of thing for paper bags. I used to collect them, and in the corner of our kitchen I’d set up ‘Alice’s Shop‘ and insist that my (unwilling) brother and (I don’t want to play your pointless game) older sister would come and partake in this excellent activity. Paper straws were also big news back then, especially at parties and I quite liked the cardboardish taste when they got soggy from sugary drinks. Nowadays, they’ve gone through a bit of a revival and they’re not just for kids – stylists love them. Pearl & Earl, Peach Blossom and Carousel Carousel are some of my favourite go-to places…

Stripy straws, from £3 a pack; Paper bags, from £3 for a set of 10, Carousel Carousel.

I love paper bags too – those polka dot numbers are to die for! I just wish I had a good reason to buy them. Gift giving, perhaps?
